clutch lever hard pull?
clutch lever hard pull?
Just finished 87 resto. Went for first real shake down run sunday and the longer I rode the stiffer the clutch lever got. Looked in manual to find proper routing of cable and I did have it wrong. Once the cable was unhooked it seamed to move smoothly. Checked the new asv lever it to was nice and smooth. It was a two finger pull when I first assembled the motor and for the first tank of fuel. Changed oil and went threw two tanks of fuel sunday and by the end of tank number two and several miles of good single track with the ocasional rock garden the clutch was a true 4 finger ordeal. Any Ideas? I'm not shure of the make of clutch. When I went thru everything the steels, frictions and springs all checked out good so I reused what I had. Was thinking of replacing with a new clutch kit any suggestions? Barnett factory honda etc? I was thinking that maybe the inner hub might be worn. The basket was rather rough and took some time to file smooth. The inner hub wasn't really pitted like the basket but not to shure. Any help would be great.

you stil have the factory style ball and hat lifter in that clutch?
that makes alot of drag and doesnt have the proper feel to it, the clutch springs stayed the same thru all the years, but the basket got wider, leaving the newer wider clutches holding less pressure, but lighter in the pull. If its a trail machine with alot of clutch work i'd change to the 90+ cover, lifter, basket and hub.
