cr250 16bit cpu ignition with tps

Post by craigf40 »

hi all thanks for this great site im from south africa and im looking for anyone who has used the last of the 2stroke cr250 ignition system on there 500 and had success with it i have got some info already but no concrete solution yet.the bike starts very easily and pulls really hard and crisp from the bottom till mid then it bogs and wont rev any higher probably 4500-5000 rpm.when i use the 01 cr500 ignition system and i use the complete system fly wheel the works then it runs 100% the only reason im trying the 250 ignition is iv read on this site that you guys get great results from the 250 ignition...
kind regards craig

I would think the fact that the TPS isn't hooked up would have something to do with it? Maybe the CDI isn't letting it rev above that point because of that. I thought the ideal years of the CR 250 ignition swap were the years without all the electronic BS?

have you played with the timing on the CR250 igniiton? Advancing or retarding the curve has a substancial affect.
