Things I learned building my CR500.
1St.
Start with a running engine that you seen run Not like mine that I was told it was running before I got it (New cases new trany new shifter forks, But I knew it needed a crank rebuild and a rebuilt topend going into it.)
2nd.
A CR250 Ing works but you'r Air gap for the pick up needs to be at .005 of a inch so it will run good.
3Rd.
Plug gap should be at .019 or it will miss fire at speed.
4Th.
At least for me a PWK carb is the way to go.
5Th.
Even if the reeds looks good and measure out good take the reed block apart anyways I found out the reed block was ate up replaced it with a Rad Valve and the plus about that it clocked the carb more to the left that gave the carb boot more room between the shock and the boot big plus.
6Th
I had to cut the silencer so the mounts would line up and a little bending to get to work.
7Th.
The airbox mod on my X frame took some thinking to get it to work.
8th.
The rest of the build was no big deal.
9th
The rear pipe mount on the pipe it self sheared off after 2 riding yea It was a brand new P/C S/H.
Oh yea Thank you every one for there input it helped out a lot getting my bike going.
THANKS
Marvin

Oh Yea my 2006 KTM560 would out run this CR500 hands down in topend it would do 110+ easy up in 6th gear.
But from the get go with out turnning and knobs the CR out handles the KTM hands down and much easyer to ride I still getting use to the high first gear of the CR but I thinking of putting a HYD clucth on the CR.![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
And the CR has not over heat like the KTM in the slow stuff.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
