gear ratio comparisons
for fun i compared 4 different bikes with 4 different trannys. all results for the 3 big bores were done with 14/49 sprockets and at 6500 max rpm and 18" wheel. the 250 was calculated with 14/49 and also the stock 13/50 with 19" wheel, at 8000rpm rather than 6500rpm.

I just wanted it posted up so i could forward a link to a dumbass uncle who was on the rev limiter in the field with his crf450r in high gear, and i was beside him screwing arround in 4th with the '88 on 14/51 gear. Somehow when i was busy messing with an open boot latch he passed me and got home that night all horned up about beeing faster than a 500. I heard it from dad and bro that he topended me on the field, WHAT? NFL! expecially when that '88 topends my other 500 bikes hardcore, even when bro is on the others at 50lbs lighter.
Some people are just a fist-magnet
You'd think that the guy would realize something when he and a dude on a crf250r leave ahead of us, and get passed by 3 500's on the back tire while they're PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFAPP'ing along in high gear and on the stop

that ktm trans looks to have a really nice gear spread with a much lower 1st gear, you could run some really tall gearing on it and not have to sacrifice much 1st gear control.

that low first gear would be handy for alot people. where i live is pretty much open sagebrush so the 1st gear wont benefit me really.
