1000 Hrs on a piston and rings

Post by Uzi »

This guy on the other board is claiming hes put 1000 hrs on one set of piston and rings in 2 years time. That would be like 1.5 hrs a day 365 days a year for 2 years. Oh and he still has about the same compression.

Mr. Know-It-All wrote:looks like your running way too lean, better be careful you dont burn a hole in the top of your piston, run a lower octane too, todays gas runs hotter than the gas that the bike was designed for, because there was more lead in it back then, or just richen your fuel up just a touch over what its supposed to be ,i have almost 1000 hours on a set of rings and piston i installed two years ago and still have nearly the same compression, you only gain a 1/2 horsepower when you run that lean

Fixed.

Its all good though that 88.7 Hp 96' is going to be his "show" bike.
deathmachine wrote: Well if thats the only problem as far as ''fit'' im good with that, as far as an AF i want to keep this bike original ,im saving to buy an AF from service honda, but this will be my show bike, it will be ridden from time to time but the AF will be my wheels

I had noticed the newbs with no bikes and thought about calling them out on it for a few laughs but then I thought why should I give a shit. That is pretty harsh to hold some to a rule and not others though.

Yeah....I know.
I don't care either.... I got shot in the ass over there for pointing out that kind of truth, look who's laughing now.
I said it before.... Shit like that is proof of where the pro's are.

Maybe he was in fact one of them jet-skiers that they try to keep out.
