2002 CRF450, or 2005 CRF250?

Post by dubious01 »

OK, I now have 2 rollers in my possesion.
Which one is the best one to mod?

The 2005 250 should have the better forks and steering geometry right?

the 2002 450 is gen 3 and 2005 250f is gen 4?

what tank will fit better?

Man the Honda 4jokes are bombs! Tons of em with blown motors!
Crank failures leading to scored cylinders and craked cases...

The CR500 engine are hard to come by. Everyone thinks their clapped out old bike is worth as much as half wore out new 4joke.

I will have to resort to stuffing my FMF BUILT KX500 engine in it I guess.

I found a few KX500 motors, my FMF engine has porting, head work, and brand new pipe. I also have a 99 kx250 digital ignition with TPS and powerjet , and a teeny flywheel...

Everyone tells me I will hate the KX250 flywheel since its 3lb YES 3 lbs lighter! :x :x :x

Should be interesting once I get project going.

So , 2005 250F frame, or 2002 450F?
(keeping the 450 rads for sure)

I think you can't go wrong, just flip a coin and pick a chassis.

It was about an hours work for me to fabricate an aluminum block to weld to the back of the 450 frame for the head stay (250 style)

It makes much less vibration than using a hoop like I did on my last conversion.

I was quite amazed at the size of the frame tubes on the 02-450 compared to the 05-250.
450 is about 25% larger, on the bottom of the cradle too...

Well, I sold the 02 450chasis today.

The 05 will be getting choped.
