as some of you may know, i finished building my CR500AF in late May after a couple months from tear down to plated and riding. it is the most fun bike i've ever owned, but i don't really ride it too much. to get to our version of the fun stuff, i have to ride 45 minutes to an hour away, so my XRR is what i end up taking most every time. not that the 500 won't easily do it, i am just fairly easy on my bikes, and i know i can cruise at 80 the whole way there on the XRR to make the trip seem shorter. i mostly ride the 500 to work and back since i can play around in town on my way, and to bike nights so i can shut shop around the sport bikes and choppers. i took it to a Kart track about a hour from here, and it was a freakin blast.
here are the specs:
2005 CR250 with a 94 CR500 engine squeezed in there. a friend and myself did all the fab work, and another friend's dad's metal fab shop did the aluminum welding and laser cut a few brackets. i did a TON of research to make sure everything was done as nice as possible. even the wiring is heat shrinked to look factory. in the build thread we look like we just started cutting and whatnot, but i assure you this is a extremely well built bike. i can change a full length plug with the tank still on, but i run the BR8ECMIX iridium short plugs. i haven't had a need to change a plug yet though.
05 CR250 pulled out of crate in 07, owned by best friend till i got it from him.
94 500 motor, fresh rebuild (wiseco piston, drilled, new crank seals), running Castor 927 premix. i bought the entire bike for the motor from another friend.
V-Force II reed cage.
black/gold Excel/Talon wheel combo
Maxxis Goldspeed and Avon ProXtreme rain tires (front 75%, rear 40-45%)
factory 19/21 inch wheels with pirelli MT21 DS tires. spare rear rotor to make swapping wheels back and forth easier and quicker.
RK X-ring chain with renthal 12/13/14/15 front sprockets, and JT steel 40 rear
2000 CR250 forks, redone and lowered roughly 2 inches
motomaster 320mm rotor and bracket
WR250X master cylinder OR quad master cylinder. your choice.
Galfer black SS line
trailtech Vapor.
black fat bar mounts with black pastrana FMX bars
acerbis black plastics
Clarke 3.2 gallon tank with hand molded underside to fit 500 engine
XR650R fuel petcock so it would have a reserve
Millar engines decompression setup
Pro Circuit exhaust w/spark arrested silencer
custom SS air intake by Chachi. came off frank's (Alohar1) satan's supermoto
Moose 40W lighting stator
Moose rear fender bag to hold premix oil for longer rides
baja designs LED tail light & mini stalk LED blinkers
BAJA Designs headlight OR factory CRF450X light. the X2 pictured is on my XR650R now.
trailtech kickstand in SM length
supermoto engineering handlebar sliders
skateboard wheel axle sliders (jolly roger theme)
SDG tall seat
pivoting footpegs, but they need new springs.
as stated above, i haven't ridden this bike too much since i hate riding the hour or so to get to the good roads around here. i brought it to Deal's Gap and surrounding area once, and it was the most fun i've ever had on a bike, period.
here's the bad:
the screen went out on the Vapor. TT said i can send it back and they'll ship me a new one, no problem.
the foot on the bottom of the kickstand broke, so i am going to call trail tech and see if they will replace it. if not, i'll buy a new one while on the phone with them.
the kick start lever is "loose". i tried a new o-ring, but i think it just needs a new kick start lever.
the stator doesn't keep the headlight at full brightness at idle. the only time this "bothers" me is when slowing to a stop, so i would rev it a little.
i had the header sandblasted, but didn't have time to paint it before i left for Deal's Gap. it's got surface rust like a typical "works" pipe does.
here's the build thread on here. http://www.bannedcr500riders.com/board/ ... sc&start=0
price = $6500.
fender spikes not included.
