Need a chain slider for the '01 and can't find shit in the way of after market. All the shops I called this past week say that it's "Not Listed" in their parts catalogs. WTF? So I broke down and ordered one from SH last night. $40 shipped. Bullshit, if ya ask me, as I used to get 'em for the niner outta Marshalls for $29. I'm thinkin that maybe when this thing comes I should try and find a suitable material to make these things out of, and copy it.
I'm a metal guy, what you cats out there think would work best? Teflon? I'd like to find something that'll last a hell of a lot longer than the stuff they use.
Consumables are starting to dissappear for the beloved steelies, as far as aftermarket goes.

I suggest you use UHMWP. Ultra high molecular weight plastic, is what alot of plastic stuff is made of when it needs to be strong as hell and last. My winch fairlead is made of it, and so is the winch line itself. Also Delrin is a good plastic, because it's light, tough, and comes in big sheets as well as solid rods and cubes. The UHMWP stuff has lubrication properties so that might be best. But others might know of something else, that is just my suggestion.
Don't Clyde it, ride it!

Delrin is my suggestion. I have a piece of Delrin and it appears to be the same material my TM Design Works ATC250R slider is made from. Hard, slippery, and so far it appears it will last a very long time. I bought the piece of Delrin I have specifically for making a chain slider (road race bike with lots of shock length was chewing up the stocker in 20 laps).
I'm not familiar with UHMWP.

I just ordered a sheet of that Delrin. I'll see what I can come up with. We'll make it a Banned Riders exclusive, as in, you can only order it here.tadiv wrote:Ya, I just took it up the ### for one the other week. If someone makes a longer lasting replacement for a good price I would pick one up!
