gen 3 125 airboot mod
gen 3 125 airboot mod
I did a seach but got nothing, not sure I'm using the search function correctly. What is the best method for making the gen 3 125 airbox mate to the late model 500 carb? thanks
Update.
Reading the old threads of the gen 3 125's it seems that two boots were used. 2000 250 and a stock gen 3 125.
Here is what my plan is:
I am going to order a new carb boot (since the rubber is soft and has not taken a set), clamp the carb in (with shock removed) apply some heat to both.
If that doesn't work, I will hack up the airbox to make the 00 250 boot fit properly and apply heat.
click below for a short vid of my airbox/boot issue.

Update, pulled shock out, clamped carb in nice and tight. Ran the heat gun on both boots for a while, heating evenly and sneaking up on it. Let it sit overnight and she seems to be holding the "memory" when the carb was removed.
Now, just to deal with the seal to the box.... Ordered up another metal retaining flange for the inside of the box, minor modifications and we will have a "sandwich" seal.

after doing both 2 stroke and 4 stroke builds, I have no desire to ever convert another 4 stroke chassis. a gen-3 250 chassis almost fits as is, the gen 4 chassis need EVERYTHING f-ed with.chachi243 wrote:that WILL work
2 stroke builds are so simple and clean.

I got the alignment issue solved. No big deal.
