F'ing straightliners

So me and the woman rode to the smoke out today on my tour glide.
I noticed i get those, "that shouldnt be your bike looks" by the harley types because i am 32 (everyone thinks i look 25-26, bless their hearts) and i dont wear leather chaps, a vest with a patch for every run, and i wear a helmet and gloves that actually would protect your hands if you lay it down ( carbon fiber knucles, full cuff, etc) you know protective gear. Comes from dress for the crash mentality (from riding motocross and flat track) not look at me I'm cool.

So we are at the base of the mingus mountains (verde valley and hit a light so we stop, there are two "bikers" on late model tricked out dyna's pipes, chrome this and that and full leathers etc. going to make a right and head up the mountain ahead of us, and I get "the look" ( they fulled checked out the bike, me and my lady and are probably thinking, F'ing new rider) which I am to harleys. So they burn tire up the road hauling ass and as we get to the twisties going up the mountain i am already behind them. They had probably 1 min lead from the light. I am 2up on my 80" tour glide and they are riding 1up on there 100" bikes. Mind you
this is the first time i have really rode my bike 2up for any distance let alone on the twisties and i not that big of a guy. The road is tight, like 20-40 mph, 180' degree turns and switch backs, and opening up to a little faster in some parts. As the road starts to get twisty the "bikers" start to slow down. I mean the guys looked like he had a seat post going up their ass they were so rigid. I am finding my self having to slow down because I am right on their tale. I am in no hurry so at first im like , ok. Then after oh about 20 turns i am like come on dude, GO!! They are going so slow in the corners and not moving over so I say "im not doing 25 all the way up the mountan". The first "biker" was like WTF!! when he goes into the RT hand 180 degree turn on the inside, and I pass him out the outside (in the same lane) about 8mph faster. Then proceed to click it up two gears catch his bro in a 180 degree left hander and pull the same move passing him on the outside and they are out of view within 30 seconds. Maybe someday, with hope, I will grow up to be as biker as them. Oh yeah when we stop in jerome and they ride past they give the "hey mang ur cool" wave and im like, F off wankers, you looked down on me about 20 min ago, lol. F'ing straightliners

So I have to say first off shame on you for buying a harley.......I know its american made blah blah blah. If you ride it like your ridding it that rear cyclinder will ALWAYS be hot! Big props for actually ridding it though. Here in colorado you don't know how many times I have uttered the words GO YOU MUTHA FUCKER GO! To some dipshit harley rider. Most of the time I'm pulling a 30' stock trailer in big mountains and these guys or gals are on motorcycles!??? Come on man fuckin' pin it! Oh yeah you wouldn't want to get that rear cylinder hot. God I hate (most) harley riders!

Props dude! Bikes are meant to ride! If I could afford one, I'd have a Harley parked right next to the AF, and the 650L.

Im not the Harley type.......Im still trying to decide between the Kawasaki ZX-14 and the Suzuki Hayabusa. ......but I think its going to be the big Ninja that ends up in my garage soon

I was driving to a jobsite a few weeks back up a twisty road, when I came up on a guy on a Harley. I followed him for maybe 2 minutes til I had enough. I passed him with extreme prejudice IN MY F150! I was in utter disbelief. They let just anybody ride those things these days.

I ride with a bunch of Harley types here in Hawaii. I have a Buell XB12S lightning. They just wave me past when the road gets twisty.....they don't even attempt to hang.

If you haven't ridden a Buell around a set of twisties...you haven't lived. They are SOOO much fun. Diesel like torque and a great chassis!!

Harley's ain't bad....for what they are.....Buell got it right.

A guy I used to ride with had a Super Glide - one step above a Sportster and when we'd come to any kind of corner, he would slow way down. I ride an Ultra Classic and his bike had the same motor but it weighed about 500 pounds less than mine. I couldn't understand why he would always slow down so much. Later he bought a Road King and sold the Super Glide. I was going to ride SG before he sold it; but when I sat on it and grabbed the bars, they were way too far forward. I asked him if they were always this way and he said that's how they came from the dealer. I got a wrench from him and set them where they should be. He rode the bike and couldn't believe the difference. I then understood why he was so uncomfortable in turns. Every Harley dealer I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with has a bunch of clowns working in their service department and a lot of the people who buy their bikes have no clue how a bike should be setup.

I have had several Harley's. They are what they are and properly set up they're quite enjoyable.

You hit it on the head jbird. Everytime I have had a bike serviced by a dealer I have had to readjust my controls and cables. I just accept it.

My very first new one I made a big deal I needed it set up properly
BEFORE I would ride it home in traffic.
They had a mechanic come out and set and adjust everything where I wanted it.

Most buyers don't have a clue...
