Has anybody weighed their AF to see what the fighting weight is? I just did mine..... 253lbs full of fuel and ready to roll

Manual say 222.7 for the steelie and 227lbs for the 450 4 stroker, Sh says 213.8lbs all dry.Exnav wrote:Dry weights of the steelies was about 225lbs.
I guess when you add in the fluid weight maybe my huge ass wheels, tires and heavy duty duty tubes it makes up for some of it

That sounds right in the ballpark to me. I cheat and never weigh my bike with gas despite the fact it makes much more sense to do so. Wet with no gas my '03 Service Honda weighed 232 lbs. What is it like 6.6 lbs per gallon of fuel? Or is that water? Anyways that makes it about 245lbs full of gas with the OEM tank. Weighed on the same scales a '05 CRF450 weighs 242 lbs wet with no fuel. On the lighter side of things a KTM 200MXC weighs 224 lbs. You shouldn't pay attention to the exact weights of these bikes as different scales often produce slightly different results. What's significant about weighing these on the same set of scales is it reflects how each bike compares to one another. You'll notice a 500AF is closer in weight to a 200MXC than it is a 450. I continue to read magazines that print 450 weights in their "Dry Weight" meaning not a drop of oil or water. No coolant, motor oil, fork / shock oil and curtainly no fuel. However this is not mentioned. Unless you were to weigh bikes yourself like I do you're led to beleive these are actual operating weights. They're flat lying. To date, my 500AF is one of the lightest bikes I've ever ridden short of a 125 MXer. That's not an opinion or perceived belief. It's a fact.

I figured about 8-10lbs between the two motors. I'd like to weigh a Gen-4 or 125 framed 500AF conversion. I'm sure they're 3-5 pounds lighter than a Gen-3. Just 15 lbs lighter than most 450s
20 lbs lighter than some others. But the magazines say it's really too close to tell.

Well actually, I don't just want to know what somebody's scales says a 125 based AF weighs. Like a dyno you have to use the same set of scales to compare different bikes. But what somebody with the right tools could do is weigh a 250R/450F based AF and a 125R/250F framed 500AF and see what the difference is.
You haven't already done this before have you Mike? I bet it's never crossed your mind...

Mick, the 2004 CR500AF LE's (CR125 chassis)
weighed basically the same as the 2004 CR500AF (Cr250 chassis)
the 2002-2004 CR250 or CR125 is essentially the same chassis
and shares most psrts body work/rads .. subframe seat etc.
susp is a wash in weight so is the frame..
we laced up the wider rim on the LE's ,so as long as you are comparing those bikes with the same tubes /tires and 500 engine,, the weights are similar. your 2003 weighs th esame as some guy with a CR500AF LE.
his just turns a bit beter r

Jusr picked up the 08 Honda brochure--> here are the wet weights listed for each bike (with a full tank of gas)
crf 450 r 238
crf 250 r 227
crf 450 x 269
crf 250 x 253
the x models sure seem kinda porky (elect start can't help)

See, I knew you'd try something like that. Gonna laugh my ass off when you're picking up the bike off your chest. If all else fails, DIGGER-RIG it! hahadannygraves wrote:well, I was thinking about trying to put my stand on the scale, then zero the scale, then put the bike on... we'll see
Seriously, if you're that adamant about weight, go to a recycling yard or a metal yard where they have large scales, u tard.
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...
