Migrain Headaches

Post by JBaze »

Anyone else get migrains, boy I sure do and they are a real pain in the ass. Spots, nausea, aches pains, light sensitivity. Just curious if anyone does and what you do for them. I pop about 6 Excedrin and hope like hell, usually dosn't help. Makes it real tough to do a whole lot.

If your migraines are a pain in the ass your problem may be obvious.

Usually the best medicines for migraine headaches have caffine. Thats all Excedrin is. Asperin and caffine. Excedrin migraine just has more caffine than the regular Excedrin. Caffine constricts the blood vessles in your head to relieve the pressure.

If the Excedrin isnt doing it for you try taking it with a Monster or similar energy drink.

If that doesnt work get off your ass and go to the doctor. Get your melon checked out. He can rule out any serious causes for the headaches and put you on Imtrex (sumatriptan). It comes in pill, injection and nasal spray. Take it when you feel the headache starting and it blocks it. I've been on it for 5 years and it works.

Oh and women didnt invent the migraine but they take full advantage of it.

I used to get chronic migraines as a kid, they were horrible, sometimes they got so bad I couldn't even speak. Then I figured out when I was about 10 that if I chugged down a 12-pack of coke a day I didn't get the headaches.
I consumed about the same amount everyday until I was 22 and decided to try cutting back. Now I don't drink any of the stuff anymore, but whatever was causing the headaches also went away.
in middle school I used to bring about 6 coke can in my backpack every day. Twice some bigger kids messed with me and took my cokes, both of those days I got so sick I hurled in class, once it was in the homework inbox, that was awesome because everyone got %100 on the previous nights homework :D

Thanks Medic201, I knew they had some newer stuff to help out with those headaches. I get regular check ups, but last year I found out I had diabetes and lost a bunch of weight, and began exercising alot more. Until that point I hadn't had one in along time. My doctor said the drug I'm on for Diabetes called Metformin could be causing them too, so we might try another approach, we'll see. They don't come on much, just when they do it really pisses me off.
DannyGraves, I drink that Coke free alot tastes good and and dosen't have any bad stuff. I used to drink gallons of Coke, but had to lay off due to a major weight problem. But it's all good now. Thanks guys. Jason.

I have the same problem sometimes. Getting glasses helped a lot. Go to the doctor because it could be blood pressure or something else. Consentrating on the computure screen makes sense.

No prob JBaze. Watch out for the newest migraine meds based on (ergotamine tartrate) one is called Cafergot. It has been marketed without FDA approval. When used in conjuction with many antibiotics it can cause peripheral ischemia or block circulation in your arms and legs. In extreme cases it has led to amputations.

Eyes are good. My sister in law uses the imtrex I think. I might look in to that when I see my doc. Thanks for the info. My Grand Dad lived in Livermore near the race track until he died. Thanks man.
