It is a Gen 5 Frame, but that is not the Y from a Gen 5... I am building a Gen 5 conversion like this, but I need to know what that Y is off of so I can get it...

That is what I wanted, But I am doing a 250 conversion and all the Billet Y's out there are for 500... I wanted to design one and have it made, but can't find a machinist to make it...

I'm positive that is a gen 5 y, I'm re-using 1 now on a customer build. It's a pita on a 500 because the motor is taller than the cr250 so more of the y has to be cut away as well as the downtube for the 500 motor, looks like a billet y is in order for the 500 powerplant.

Thank You for your reply. Here is a picture of the Y on my 2012 CRF250R (Gen 5) It doesn't look the same to me...

Looks the same to me, just relocated.
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

What do you do to the markings and the original mounts on the back of the Y, grind them off?

Yep. Along with new cradle/mounts welded back in.

That is exactly what i did, only i didn't cut the openings open on the sides where the cradle goes into the y.There is no need to as there is plenty of cleareance for the exuast on both sides of the cradle rails.

I do like that smoothed out y

the tire will hit the pipe. the rails need replacement, the body parts for those years are discontinued, the list of reasons not to is endless
