Newbie looking for help with 2004 CRF450R

Post by Bronson »

Hi guys,
I just picked up a low hour, super clean, street legal 2004 CRF450R supermoto. I plan to do a CR500 conversion and keep it street legal. However, it won't see a lot of street use. I really want to do the conversion and then gear it for 110 mph+ to run on the shorter and tighter road circuits in the Northeast like Summit Point Senandoah and New York Safety Track.

The bike as I bought it:

I've read through a ton of threads on this site but am not finding what I'm looking for...

What will it take to do the conversion on a 2004 CRF450R?

1) Does anyone make conversion parts like I'm seeing for other model year CRF/CR 250s?
2) Any links to photo tutorials or even just contact names I can reach out to of people who've done it would be much appreciated. Many of the threads I'm coming across on this site have broken images.
3) What's the preferred setup for radiators? Can I make my '04 radiators work or am I better off selling them and buying a set off of another year/model bike?

Video of my first ride on the bike (still with the 450 engine):

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Also, in the interest in saving time, I'd be interested in knowing what it would cost for someone to do the major fabrication work for me (frame, radiators & head stay). Please post here or send me a private message.

Thank you.

Thanks James,
I took a look at their site and was able to get a bunch of info for my notes...

1. My 2004 CRF450R is definitely a "Gen3" (2002-2004 models)
2. they don't sell a kit (an email response from them also confirmed it) but they do sell misc. mounts (engine, coil, pipe, etc.)
3. Good notes on the differences between different year & model bikes.
4. They've got a bunch of really well written manuals for various steps of the conversion process.

Thanks again.
