My boys & I are bringing my 87' 5-Honey back from the dead. Through out the years I have told them "If you can start it you can ride it." They can both light the fire now, they're 18 & 21.
The typical corrosion , my fault, has rendered my clucth case/water pump housing to the magnesium gods. The boys cut it up & we threw it into a backyard bonfire. They dug it!
So...I began to look for a replacement. Some CL list cawksucker wanted $250 ! for a used one. Flea-Bay wasn't much better. Bike bandit to the rescue, I got a 94' side cover for $130, NOS Honda.
The boys masked off clutch cover, leaving the HONDA in buffed, looks great. They also did a great job painting the silver side case black. They used automotive primer & gloss black high heat engine paint. We just got all the seals & complete gasket set on Saturday. I'm working nights this week, so no assembly till later in the week.
This has been a great team building exercise for us. They're not glued to a video game screen. They're having to think & learn. It's all good.
Our 87' 5-honey specs;
Krause mid-range pipe
Eibach stiffer fork & shock springs (I'm a semi crippled less fat handsome sneaky guy.)
Boyesen reeds
Maier orange-sh plastic ( I don't really like it.)
Blue CEET cover, from back in the day, still looks great.
This 5-Honey came into my life in 93' when I finally, begrudginly, relinquished my 480. She's been in the garage since my last race sometime in the late 90's.
