Spooge Rx needed
Spooge Rx needed
32:1 Klotz, premium fuel and minimal Klotz octane booster.
What do ya think?
Everyone else at the ride spot is mixing 50:1 Klotz or Golden Spectro.
Nobody else is spooging like my KDX
Now, I'd have to say the silencer probably hasn't been repacked since it was new in '91 and the accumulation looks like it's dripping from the silencer and not the pipe joint.
Anyway, need some advice on mix ratio and maybe jetting?
The 500 is on the other side and it didn't spooge like this but I didn't ride it that much either. You can see the swingarm through the KDX.

Get the jetting crisp and then use Yamabond to seal the exhaust joints. You could go to 50:1 with a synthetic oil and it would help (some). It is an unfortunate reality that even with the jetting just right one has to work the engine hard enough to turn a steel pipe blue at the exhaust port i.e. 1200F to burn all the pre-mix oil. IMHO this does not happen with us mere mortals and trail style riding...

Yeah, part of the problem is the ride spot and the fact that I'm a big pussy when it comes to goat trails on a mountainside.
I basically pussied today. The ride spot has tons of mountain "trails" and a track with no berms thanks to the damn quads.
The only time I opened it up was getting to the track and any straight section of the track.
Anyway, I run all my landscape equipment at 50:1 but was told not to run my bikes like that.
I'm just a big ass dumb and confused pussy!

I was using belray syn before switching to Klotz a month ago.
So, change the ratio and then get the jetting right?
What could I run the Klotz at and run it in all my bikes in my sig?
The 480 is special though, it's only for the AHRMA races occasionally but would be nice if I didn't have to have more than one mix can.
Jetting is like algebra and chess to me, took me forever to get that shit and it's easily forgotten. I'll get it but just need some help now and then.
btw-That's one day, maybe 3 hours of goat trails and some track time mixed in.
I'm thinking the silencer is saturated and/or the crank seal is bad.
I'm gonna repack the silencer and pressure test it.
On a side note, I was really hoping to open the 500 up but the track was rubbed blue from those damn quads and the only fast way through those flat, blue turns was to brake slide the rear end around.
That's really pussy riding.
I'm friggin outa shape. I rode 1.5 hrs home with a cramp on my right inner thigh from trying to not fall in those slick ass blue streaks.
Then I fell out of the truck when I got home because the damn leg cramped up solid. Feels sorta like a pulled hamstring.

That is your biggest problem. clean the pipe & silencer out real good. Then repack the silencer with silencer packing. Get a leaner needle or move the clip up on the needle 1 or 2 spots I say mix your gas with Klotz 40:1 = 1 pint to 5gl of gas........ You should be O'ta D'en

I've only ridden this bike 3 times. We had to work on the carb before I could ride it. The over flow tube was pinched with a screw. When we took the screw out, it wouldn't stop flowing out the bottom.
Took the bowl off and some squid before me broke the over flow tube off.
Scrounged for a bowl and then found the float was off.
It won't idle so those damn goat trails were double stuff hard to ride.
Well, today I'm gonna clean it up, remove the silencer and repack it and see if my pressure tester for my CR will adapt to this engine.
Then I'm gonna take the carb off and work on it.
I am curious what the silencer looks like inside too. It's one of those big ass angled units.

if it has been bastardised that much i would repack the muffler open the manual to carb settings and jet it to your altitude including the needle after it had a thorough cleaning then fresh fuel mixed 40:1 if you have excessive smoke then you have bad main seals i would put a fresh piston in aswellTharrell wrote:I've only ridden this bike 3 times. It had a fresh topend when I got it. I'm worried about sticking a ring with this much spooge.
Does castor spooge more than syn?
I got a little spooge before but this is after switching to Klotz. Also, I was lugging it pretty much all day, I'm a total wuss.
I don't know, body slamming a tree just kept sticking in my mind for some reason.
I can slam the same terrain on a track as long as there are no oaks or pines.
I do however like to sit under a nice shade tree after a moto.
Crap, I guess I need to get after it.
edit:
I tried washing it but there is still a lot of spooge everywhere.
I'm gonna pressure wash it in a couple of days and then work on it.

I run 927 @ 44:1 in all my 2 strokes and they work just fine! No spooging at all. But definitely fix all the nigyvering first and repack that silencer. Castrol Super Clean and a pressure washer will clean that mess up well. good luck!
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...
Spooge is NOT about premix...
Pick a mix and a ratio and STICK WITH IT!
THEN jet the thing to work with that combination.

No longer have a CR500.

Tranny oil is what I thought too. The sight glass is really old. It's either completely empty right now or completely full.
I'm working on my CR250 right now and don't feel like fooling with the KDX until that's done.
Crank seals on all my bikes was on the list simply because they are all pretty much older bikes.
Also, the massive silencer was rubbing the tire pretty bad this time out.
I got some pretty good air at the track and may have smacked something out of place. That may be letting the silencer bleed.
That thing is probably saturated!

thats fairly easy.. just empty the tranny fluid and measure.. if its less than what you put in welllll there ya go thats how i found out my tranny was chewin up gears.. thought i had a blown seal leading to leaning conditions (yes i know wrong side crank seal) drained it measured it and noticed allllll them fancy metal chunks.. didnt know tranny oil looked like metallic paint
