The water pump seal is literally a 10 minute job, it's easier than changing jets. I think I used a pick to get the old one out, that's about the only thing that might make the job easier for you.

The stock carb is a 38 PJ. You'vve got the original on there.

I usually run it counterclockwise. The neighbor with the really dilapidated garage is one of my best friends, he probably wouldn't mind so I'll have to switch the direction up. :D I didn't intend for my yard to be a disaster, but after a bunch of snowfalls and riding my CRF70 around the damage had a...

Sponsorship needed

Anybody want to pitch in so I can buy a couple more houses in my neighborhod and bulldoze 'em? My backyard oval is a little tight for the 500. :D Besides, this is Detroit, I think every house around me is worth about $40k right now! https://bannedcr500riders.com/images/auto/0b1b0a0d8662f0be975c0fd91...

I like their version of Godzilla. In a couple years they're going to have one hell of a groupie pool to pick from.

Although I first thought of this when I heard "Red Shadow":

Far out. I bought a selection of pilots, including a 45 so I'll slap that in immediately. I don't have any richer mains than 170 though, I've got a 165 in the PJ on the bike right now and it seems to be happy. Sounds like that won't be the case on the PWK.

I'll tag along on the coattails of this thread, just bought a 39 PWK from John. Any suggestions on baseline jetting for sea level here in Michigan? Have a DGN needle, was thinking something in the 50 pilot range and maybe a 172 main. I have leaner in both directions, but nothing richer on the main P...

Michigan people - Baja this weekend

Guaranteed to get 0 replies...

Couple coworkers and I are going on Sunday the 22nd, both Baja and Log Road are open for the first weekend of the year. I've never ridden it, and I suck on MX tracks (or anywhere else, for that matter), but I'm going anyway....

Only 83 horse for the GP cylinder version? Isn't it relatively easy to get those kinds of numbers out of a full bore CR or KX500?

It's a good day if I didn't have to use my AK. Honestly, I still have a job, so I'll count that as a win for the time being. :D I've had other people comment on my thumbs, I guess not everyone is double jointed. We had our first genuinely nice day of the year here in Detroit. I took the opportunity to dig the streetbike out from hibernation, put 100 miles on it today. http://photos-e.ll.facebook.com/hphotos-ll-snc1/hs026.snc1/2572_143448385003_509140003_5960708_1259477_n.jpg Supposed to rain for the remaind...

First bike was a '98 YZ250, but I only had it a few months prior to selling it and picking up my CR500. I've picked up a minibike, a CRF70, and a CB550 since then though. :D

I'm still pretty new to 2 wheeled excitement.

I watched it. Streetbike Tommy stuffing an entire box of donuts in his mouth was hilarious. Almost all of the clips were from earlier nitro circus films, though.

I have no idea if the swingarm will interchange, but I know any rear wheel from 87-up will work, they ran an 18" rear until the end of production in 01.

It's a bummer for sure, but like somebody else on thumpertalk mentioned, at least he went out on top of his game. Unfortunately it's also another reminder of exactly how dangerous riding a dirt bike can be. When I ran Red Bud on labor day last year, I saw over 5 people get hauled away in an ambulance.

Michigan has their vehicle equipment requirements posted on the secretary of state's website. Check with your state website, they probably have a .pdf document or something posted online.

We've gotta have something to keep us occupied in winter, I haven't ridden it (save for a couple quick blasts down the street) since October. The time between when the snow first flies and the lakes freeze over solid enough to ride on is agonizing... I will say my skills are awful, but the clean ice...
