I am working on it as I type this, but likely it will be a few days before I know enough to say anything. i am also costing steel, two piece gen. one and gen. three head stays.....

Move the right bushing (54mm) to the left side and then order a 52141-KZ4-J40 Bushing (59mm) and use it for the right. That's my set-up and it lines up great on the 03 450 frame; no need for washers or anything else other then the bishings and stock spacers (think washers) on each side!!!

All this would of been great to know 2 years and 9 months ago, as I went and had a pair of bushes made that go into the cases, which are each 5mm longer than standard to take up the gap.

They look just like the factory bush except the large diameter part is 5mm longer / thicker.

Oh well, same result just a different method I suppose.

I put them away for safe keeping, but I can't find them now.

um, the spacing isn't centered, you don't want 5mm and 5mm. can't remember what it is supposed to be on a gen-3 but on a gen-1 it was 4 and 6mm

Well if they don't fit I can just buy the bushes from Honda.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

I haven't actually been working on a conversion, I have been getting ready to do one.

I have been kicking the idea around for quite awhile, got deadly serious about doing one in Jan 2008 and just manage to snag a CR250 Gen3 in Sept 2009.
It's been a long time from the first thought I had about an AF until now.

It is a long story how I got to this point, I will need to write it in the B.S / True stories forum.

Do you have a pic of a mounted headstay? Will it fit on my bike?

OK this might save some confusion when stuffing a CR500 into these frames.

The Std CRF250 04-09 uses a 49mm on the left and a 59mm on the right, with the CR500 engine get a 54mm for the left side and you are done.

The Std CRF450 02-04 uses a 49mm on the left and a 54mm on the right, with the CR500 engine swap right to left and get a 59mm for the right side and you are done.

The Std CRF450 05-09 uses a 46mm on the left and a 54mm on the right, with the CR500 engine swap right to left and get a 59mm for the right side and you are done.

The Std CR125 02-07 uses a 54mm on the left and a 59mm on the right, with the CR500 engine you are good to go as is.

The Std CR250 02-07 uses a 49mm on the left and a 54mm on the right, with the CR500 engine swap right to left and get a 59mm for the right side and you are done.

Part# for the 54mm bush is 52142-KZ4-J40, left side of swingarm.

Part# for the 59mm bush is 52141-KZ4-J40, right side of swingarm.

If any of this is incorrect, please let me know so I can change it before any mistakes are made.

Perfect! I think some of my confusion came from it being 4:30 in the morning here when I read it but that's much clearer now.
