Thats not really the way to jump a dune, it can be done. If he just stayed with it probably would of landed it.

Though I've never done any dune riding; like you say, it looks like he'd been much better off trying to ride it out. Must be a rush to be in the air for that long!

I figure he was in big trouble no matter what.

But I think he bailed because he was going to land WAY long. I don't think he meant to clear that dune. I think he meant to land on the downslope but was going way too fast.

Landing long and flat can F your chit up just as bad or worse than bailing. Not quite the same thing, but check out what happened to Dan Pastor (pro FMX rider) when he landed long and flat. Yikes.
