N.A.H.A. Round 1 Tracy, CA
N.A.H.A. Round 1 Tracy, CA
Skip’s Promotions would like to thank everyone who has supported our events over the years as we hope to continue providing them for years to come.
We will be making some changes to the Carnegie round of the NAHA Pro Series in an effort to reestablish positive growth for the Northern California event. These changes only apply to the Carnegie NAHA round; other NAHA rounds will not be running the same format. The NAHA has agreed to sanction the event and we thank them.
The 2010 Carnegie Pro Nationals will be running VERTICROSS in place of two of the hillclimb classes. The 450 Ex and 700 Ex classes will be run under the VERTICROSS format. This, we feel, is a positive move for the sport and one that must be made for the survival of the Carnegie pro only show. Attendance has gone down since our amateur event grew too large to feasibly combine the two shows; we also had to move from Harrison’s hill over to our current hillclimb site. This has created a tough situation, in fact, the only time we have been able to payout above the NAHA minimum, was Harrison’s hill. If drastic measures aren’t taken, the Carnegie NAHA national could come to an end. If Harrison’s hill becomes available in the future, we would likely use only the hillclimb format.
After two years of steady development, VERTICROSS is now ready for the national stage. From a fans point of view, the fast speeds that this hill is known for will make for some great side by side, bar to bar racing. From the rider’s point of view, it creates excitement, which in turn leads to the excitement the fans feel.
We will never lose touch with our sport, and that is why the Open class will always be a hillclimb class. Open class hillclimbing has always and will always excite audiences whenever and everywhere they run. Also the 85cc Ex will run as a hillclimb class.
THE RACING
The excitement begins with Saturday’s Seeding/Qualifying rounds;
The Open class will qualify under the normal format; top five go directly to the main, everyone else tries for the remaining 30 spots.
450 and 700 classes will be using the VERTICROSS format.
Event order;
Saturday morning: 450 Seeding/Qualifying (two timed runs)
700 Seeding/Qualifying (two timed runs)
Open Qualifying
Saturday after qualifying: 450 Wildcard qualifying (4 VERTICROSS heat races)
700 Wildcard qualifying (4 VERTICROSS heat races)
Sunday: 450 VERTICROSS round 1 (16 heats)
700 VERTICROSS round 1 (16 heats)
Open class hillclimb round one
Open class hillclimb round two
450 VERTICROSS round 2 (8 heats)
700 VERTICROSS round 2 (8 heats)
450 quarterfinals
700 quarterfinals
450 semis
700 semis
450 finals
700 finals
VERTICROSS Seeding/Qualifying is as follows;
- The top three 450’s & the top five 700’s, as determined by 2009 NAHA Series results in their respective classes, are not required to ride in the Seeding/Qualifying round, however it is strongly advised that you do.
- If one, some or all of the top three 450’s and/or top five 700’s choose not to participate in the Seeding/Qualifying, they will assume one of the reserved seeds; 450’s will reserve seeds 26, 27 and 28; the 700’s will reserve 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28.
- Should the top three 450’s or the top five 700’s choose to participate in the seeding round, they will assume whatever position they achieve through their timed runs; If their time is outside the top 28, they will assume one of the reserved seeds.
- Seeding round is just like a normal qualifying round; each rider will make two solo runs for time.
- Times are then used to rank each rider, starting at 1 thru however many sign up.
- This seeding number will then follow you throughout the event.
- 1 thru 28 will go directly to Sunday’s VERTICROSS Main event.
- 29 thru 36 will go to wild card qualifying, Saturday afternoon.
- 29 races 36, 30 races 35, 31 races 34 and 32 races 33.
- Single elimination VERTICROSS.
- The winners of these heats will fill the 32 rider stepladder format.
- 37 and over do not qualify.
- Your seed number also determines lane choice; top seed has lane choice, except final round, where lane choice is determined by a coin toss.
- Your seed number also helps determine your FINAL RESULT, should you get eliminated; highest seed receives the highest placing of the group eliminated in the same round.
- First and second seeds are guaranteed a top ten finish with a win in round one.
- Two heat wins for any rider guarantees top 8 finish.
- Bikes must abide by NAHA class rules except tires, no paddles in 700’s (cut knobby ok); rubber paddles ok in 450’s.
- Video will be taken of each finish.
- A viewing booth will be set up at the top for officials to look at close finishes.

Yeah that chick has my wheel, my extensions and happens to be the #1 Womens WORCS Champion. More power to her and just glad to be apart of her program. At my age, I'm glad to give back to the younger up and comers. They are the future of the sport. I know you've all heard of Ashley Force Hood and Ashley Fiolek, well we have our own in Hillclimbing.
