I had one of the Oregon Scientific cameras and wasn't real impressed.
I bought a GoPro HD Hero at a trade show earlier this month and while I haven't used it in action yet, it seems impressive just goofing around with it.

Go Pro appears to be on their way to being the iPod of the helmet cam market. Good news is they work real well. Bad news is that they'll have a new version out every year, that'll make you wished you waited.

yeah, speaking of which, I'll sell my old (1yr) Go Pro so I can buy a new HD model...not that its crap - it isnt. Just the HD has some nice new features I like.
Here ya go...lags a bit in the beginning. Kid eats shit and takes a bit to get going...thats me and my bud behind the whole way - were dog tired and just putting..Anyone know of a vid with it mounted on the back?
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

From what i can gather launch helmet cams are the best, i tried the VHOLDR cam but it stopped working after riding on wet trails, having said that i might have just bought a faulty unit

I got one of the Gopro 960's.
They had them at Costco.
The ride started out misting, but then it was a light rain.
The rain on the lens kind of screwed up the footage.
We got into heavier rain & the inside of the housing fogged up.
It was a wet day.
I think they have moisture absorbent pieces you can stick in the housing.
I ate it going about 40.
Smacked my helmet & back pretty hard.
Thank God for chest protector & full gear.
I didn't expect to find the camera anywhere near me, but it was still in the mount, on top of my helmet. Mount was rotated back, but it was still on.
They are more durable than I thought they would be...

For the contour, if all you want to do is cut sections out or paste them together, Quicktime Pro does that handily and is only $20. If you want to get fancier, I got nothin for ya.
No longer have a CR500.
