From BP: HEY GUYS, MANY OF YOU SAW MY CRASH IN QUALIFYING ON FRIDAY NIGHT IN COLUMBUS OR ME LIMPING BACK AND FORTH TO THE LINE AT THE RACE ON SATURDAY TO MAKE WHAT I COULD OUT OF MY RUNS. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WERENT THERE, AT THE TOP OF THE HILL THERE WAS A ROAD GAP UP A CLIFF. I HIT A KICKER GOING OFF THE LIP, THE BIKE BUCKED, MY FRONT TIRE HIT THE CLIFF, AND I WENT OVER THE BARS WITH THE REAR WHEEL COMING OVER AND DRILLING ME IN THE LEG. I THOUGHT IT WAS A FRACTURE AT MOST AND DECIDED TO RIDE ON SATURDAY TO SALVAGE WHATEVER POINTS I COULD. I RODE AND MADE UP SOME GOOD POINTS SO I WAS PUMPED. I GOT BACK HOME THOUGH AND THE FINAL PROGNOSIS FROM THE DOC WAS A BROKEN FIBULA IN MY LEFT LEG. IM STUCK NOW ON CRUTCHES NOW WITH A SOFT CAST FROM A BUNK DOCTOR THAT ISNT ANY HELP (I HAD X RAYS DONE FRIDAY AND THEYRE EXACTLY THE SAME). IM GOING TO SEE A SPORTS INJURY SPECIALIST THIS WEEK AND MAY NEED SURGERY TO GET IT HEALED UP ENOUGH FOR STURGIS. ILL BE THERE CRUTCHES OR NOT HOPEFULLY WELL ENOUGH TO MAKE SOME RUNS. ALL YOU HEALTHY RIDERS OUT THERE GET OUT AND BLAST SOME HILLS FOR ME, YOU NEVER APPRECIATE BEING ABLE TO RIDE WHENEVER YOU WANT TILL YOUR STUCK UP AT HOME WITH A BUM LEG WATCHING VERTICAL DESTRUCTION FOR YOUR 20TH TIME...STILL AWESOME.

KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED AND ILL SEE YOU IN STURGIS! - BRET PETERSON

Sorry to see that, I hope it heals good / quickly.
You soon learn how quickly you get bored when you are injured.
