vin confusion

Post by FattyFive »

Soo I picked up this bike, guy says its a 97 125. VIN 10th digit is V which is 97. 97 125 was steel. This is an aluminium frame. Could someone have put a 125 in a 250 frame? Anyone have a manual that could check these numbers for a fellow HOON? Or could it have been made in 97 as a 98 model?

I am so confused as to what this is. Of all the stripped frames I see, It looks like a Gen 3. I have not seen a gen2 125 frame yet, but it looks like a gen 3 125 or 250. The down tube is a clam Y. Went to cycle chaos and ran the vin and it says 97 125. WTF

It says 97 but looks nothing like a 97 frame. 97 125 was steel. This has a twin spar clam type Y down tube.

its not really going to matter, if you have it and a clapped out 86 chassis you can make a nice bike

Have you read the thread? The vin says its a 97, looks nothing like a 97, I'm thinking 00-01. Have not been able to verify. Needs chassis parts and need to know year.

125 width=1.85 and I think 19's started in 01?

The subframe looks to be gen 2, 00-01
