I'm gonna go up and talk to the camp host and see if we can bring in bigger trailers and ask about campfires because I'd swear they were selling firewood before and the descrition says no campfires

its no open camp fires I think if you bring a basket your cool. also ask about bringing a big trailer up the back side on the dirt road

you will need a wilderniss pass and if I remember right there is a big open area that big trailers can fit into just before the camp ground :?:

I just got off the phone with Ariane at the Arrowhead Ranger station Campfires are allowed right now and the biggest spot is 36ft also the roads are in the best condition they have ever been in and you can easily drive a passenger car there because they have been recently graded. So lets pick a date after Oct. 1st! She is also faxing me the exact length of each campsite with a map. We need reservations and it's $12.00 a night.

I just got the fax from Ariane and every campsite except for #26 is big enough for at least a 22ft trailer. She also told me that the descriptions about the campground must be old and based on someones opinion rather than fact.

Very very doubtful. Its a one way rd. and the maps say 4x4 only. The one time road the bike up it. I'd say 2wd truck but thats it. I suppose if I/we went to Steiners place it could be checked on a bike first. But once you start in a truck there's on turning around.

We usually camp within a 1/2 mile of the campground for free but you have to worry about the fire ring and "Smokey the bear" paying you a visit. I am cool with the campground to be with the group. This is a awesome staging area, it is about half way between Arrowhead and Big Bear.
