C12 is a formula of VP race fuel, he is talking about mixing it 50/50 with pump gas.Dakota Boy wrote:yes, it is an '84 500. The "500" on the swingarm is actually painted on, not a sticker. And the fork boots in '84 were black. I have an old dealer brochure that proves it. In '85 the fork boots went blue to match the seat.
"50/50 C-12" ? what is that? Mine does ping a bit when letting off the throttle.
And for all you water-cooled guys: dont come crying to me when your waterpump housings are leaking and rotted out...
Garage Queen? No... but it may as well be, cuz riding areas in SE Wisconsin are damn near non-existent .

Bought it yesterday. Wasnt looking for a bike, but saw this at a garage sale.
Its a '99, has about 15 hours on it. Stock except fo the pipe and can.
Bike is in excellent condition. I dont think it has ever been washed.
First time riding a cr500 or any big bore 2 stroke, and I cant believe how much power this bike makes

Yup, I had to change the outer water pump seal, peice of cake, especially when you have the seal in your box of stuff! And yes, it is the Gecko loop, about 300 yards in on the right as you enter, it's a good spot because you get in and out so fast.iggys-amsoil wrote:Looks like its having issues.
That looks like its Glamis on Gecko loop off Gecko Rd? If it is I use to park right where the head is. Now I like 300' to the left of that. Easy to keep an eye on the ranger from there.
Don't Clyde it, ride it!

Battleax, that Kawasaki triple looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor except for the chambers. Is it a 500 or a 750? Fine looking bike!

Thanks for the compliment, it is a 1971 H1 500 Mach III, the pix is what I started with. I went completely through the motor, crank, pistons, clutch ... etc. Then all the cosmetics, I even had to get the decals from Nottingham England. The early 500s were faster than the later 750s in stock form, with a set of chambers on the 500, they can be pretty fast, in the 12 second flat range. I had a '71 H1 years ago and thought I might have another, turned out to be more work than I thought, sort of like my CR500R, with that, I thought rebuild the crank (the big end was stuck) some freshening up and I'd have a fun bike to play with. To say the least, I might have fixed nearly everything. But boy does that CR run!! You know I found out there is a lot of difference between a tired CR500 and a fresh one!! I am going to have to get in a lot better shape to ride this thing!! Joe Byrd
Here is an artsy picture I took of my H1

Out at Mother G!
Look who decided to camp next us... Thats my sweet Minnie Winnie and you can see the rear of the 5-0-0
My '99 HD Night Train after the rebuild from my wreck. Decided to go with a paint job that won't scratch... Nice and industrial!
A close up of the sublimal flames I made. Ever see 3D graphics on a bike before?
