Howdy from SoCal! Just picked up my first CR500 today (pics will be up later!) for $1000. It's an 87, just had too and bottom end rebuilt at a Honda dealership (PO had a friend that owned a Honda dealership). She needs some new plastic but looks good otherwise.
It was incredibly hard to start today, even with finding TDC, filling the carb bowl with fuel by tilting method, rocking back and forth in gear, etc. the PO had regular in it and I'm thinking trying with a better plug and higher octane gas may help get it started. I'm also going to be adding a Stealhy flywheel weight to it.
My two questions are what spark plug should I be running and does the higher octane fuel really make a difference?
Thanks in advance for any help! Can't wait to get out and rip on this. It's a dream come true owning my first CR500!
Cheers!
