Ring end gap too big, should I ride it?

I have a new wiseco forged piston 89.50 and I measured the ring end gap and it was .031"

The specs for Honda say .011 to .020"

Is it different since it is a forged piston?

I need to throw this back together so I can ride tomorrow!

Help!!

Too little ring gap is a problem, too much, not so much, piston to cylinder clearance good?
Maybe Roosty will chime in.

A lot of testing has been done on this.
Your right... Too little... Major issue.
To much??? Not so much.
I'd like to see it a bit better then yours but I have certainly seen a lot worse..
A VERY GENERAL rule of thumb is .004-.005" per one inch of bore for normally aspirated engines. .006-.007" per one inch of bore for boosted applications.

89.5mm x .03937 x .004" = .014" ring end gap or whatever..

I go .018" on the skinny side for standard setups
bridgeless cylinders i go .022
have run them up to .026 or .028", i forget, made no difference really

Called wiseco yesterday (Tuesday) and they said they will be fine.

Good thing, cause Monday I "broke it in" up in the mountains!

Seems to me, when I had my motor apart at Roosty's shop, mine gapped at 50 thou. I slapped that bitch together and rode it, long and hard.
