The question would still stand Why would they place that warning if it does not apply?
Are we to beleive that they are worried about the container, not the product inside? it does need an answer.

Technically I dont believe it mixes with the gas anyways...

It is more accuratly described as "being held in suspension" within the fuel.

"In a colloid, the dispersed phase is made of tiny particles or droplets that are distributed evenly throughout the continuous phase"

Ok Kiddies here we go straight from the horses mouth, this is the responce from Castrol UK Div.

Dear sir

Castrol A747 is a blend of semi synthetic, castor based oils and additives designed to offer maximum performance and protection. If you freeze vegetable oils, they tend to form macro crystalline structures which as well as turning the oil cloudy, could effect the properties of the formulation causing some of the blended components to " drop out", or change thier properties and this could effect the ability of the oil to function correctly.

I hope that helps

Andy Griffin
Luricants- Europe Region Technical Advisor

So while it is not a very technical answer it does spell out what they beleive will happen to a blended castor when it hits zero. While 97AF pointed out he did it and was ok. To that I asked a TZ250 engine buileder and he said , " ya it will run and you most likely will not notice it in a dirt bike, but the oil will have a somewhat uneven lube as it goes throw the motor, on a motor turning 15000 rpm the effect may be to the point of causing a seizure."

So IMO why would you take the chance of imparing the premix you use?
Or maybe this is all crap and I'm may just go make a salad :hiding:

I think their testing would have been more credible had they used a gas analyzer to jet for a consistent fuel/air ratio. But they were pretty thorough otherwise...

hot castors

Post by asteroid500 »

ive run castrol R30-R40 for ever....karts, bikes, motox, outboards, leftovers for the mower, and never had a problem with freezing or fuel seperation..even ran avgas in a cr250 for some years and a leophard kart with the same avgas ratios, with the avgas and cool temps it would seperate in a few days so the mower got none of that.

i moved from Melbourne to Darwin (Darwin has a monsoonal season with humidity as high as 96% for 2 months of the year...how)5000km and the humidity and heat would destroy our premix in 2-3 hours.
contacted Castrol and they recomended another one of there products if i couldnt aquire the aproprete stabliser.

so its Motal 800...i give it a real good rap and it even smells good

Just go to your local speedway meet and have a smell when the solo bikes lap,
castor oil all the way ! Thats got to say something about castor ? either they wont accept change and move on to synthetic oil ( they still run total loss oiling also ) or castor mixes better with methanol than synthetic or ....is castor just better. I reccon the later, but ime yet to run it my self. all that said there are some circumstances that call for high tech soulitions such as those expiranced by asteroid500 in the tropics. I wonder if asteroid has tried opal fuel, is it good for anything ? i hear its no good for sniffing,
