Hey guys!! First of all I'm glad I found what may be the best collection on the internet of CR500 knowledge. Awesome. So I've always wanted a CR500 and was in the process of selling off a CRF450R to fund a CR500 purchase. A guy traded me a 2003 CR250R and a 91 CR500 for my 07 CRF450R. I thought I made out pretty well on the deal....

I've tooled around in the neighborhood on the 500. It needs new tires and the suspension feels really squishy. The rear tire is a 140 for crying out loud. As compared to my 2014 KX450F it feels like a tank.... so I don't feel too secure taking it out on a track. The bike is an absolute monster though in terms of power. The top end is new and the bike runs great. I cleaned the carb and got the jetting closer to stock values for the PJ and now it fires up first kick when it's above 60 out. Below that and I have to trick it into being a rich condition by leaning it over but it'll usually fire off after 5 or so kicks.

For my plans, I plan to pull the motor out and then part out the CR500 chassis or sell it as complete. Honestly, it's in great shape all things considered.

I've added a pic below.

Well I picked up a 2000 that needs a little love. It blew a crank seal so since I have to tear it down..... Might as well do it right you know?

What part of Houston? I live down in League City. Currently have 5 CR500s, one being a 2002 CRF450R framed 2001 CR500 motor. Waiting on a frame that I had modified for another conversion (2008 CRF450R).
