What year motor for a conversion?

Post by 89mustang »

I'm going to start my build in a couple of months. I have a steel framed 97 now but it's in pretty good shape don't really want test it apart. I've been looking far a complete bike or motor. I know 85-88 you have to drill the cases. Any help would be appreciated

90 or newer will be your best all around choice, no water pump issues with the larger clutch and you don't have to plumb the water to the cylinder odd.
just my $.02
Gen 2 AF, yes it's a SH, so I can call it an AF Damm it!

Thanks. I'm looking for one and found a couple older motors. I've read they discontinued a lot of parts for those. I was aware of water pump issues. Not the other stuff.
