I did it once on a borrowed 1986 CR125 back in the day, split my riding pants. :oops:

I'm working on the calculations to show exactly the changes the C/S position makes to suspension reaction.

So far, the numbers show at MAXIMUM motor output (60 ft.lbs torque) run through the transmission in 2nd gear = 700lbs of chain tension.

At the end of the swingarm, with 3.5" of rise ( the difference of height betweeen the sprockets) there is about of 100 lbs of down pressure appplied to the ground. Since the earth isnt going to move anytime soon, that force ( Newtons 3rd law) translates into 100 lbs of upforce at the C/S sprocket.

Keep in mind this is at 100% motor output, in 2nd gear , with 100% traction.

How often does that occur?

I'm having a hard time picking a realisitc power output, in 3rd or 4th gear, with 75% to 85% traction.

Numbers like this could lower the up force to 30 of 40 pounds.... and then recalculating the numbers for raising or lowering the C/S sprocket plus or minus 1/2" might change that 1 or 2 pounds at most.

Its a lot of work, to prove it does little.

Isn't there a better way to check AF frames for cracks? :lol:

Oh thats right,.... flat land from about 15', land, pin throttle, fractrue arm and watch bike leave from under you as a blur as you just complete the first and only lap of the day. Not fun.

Yeah, I got it that way.
Apparently there's a club in Richmond that trashes bikes in the mud.
I bought that 2001 CR250 for $1000, thought it needed rear wheel bearings so I bought them.
Took it apart and the hub was trashed.
It was a Warp 9 wheel so I still have the bearings.
I bought a new wheel and hub assembly and put a new top end on it because the guy said it hadn't been done in 2 years and I was afraid it would fly apart on me at any time based on his maintenance record.
Also put new linkage and shock bearings in.
It took a lot to clean it up, it was caked with mud.
I washed it, acid washed it, took the dents out of the pipe and painted it black. Maybe I'll get new plastic and graphics for it this year.
Here it is after I got it home and did a preliminary wash on it.
