2010 Service Honda CR500AFX

Post by fkmf6 »

Hi all im new to the forum and have a couple of questions about this particular bike. Are these a weapon? Are they worth the $15,000 asking price? In general would it be a good purchase for reliability, maintenance, rideability compared to a Husaberg FE570. Thanks Jim from Melbourne Australia

Thats bad luck mate, it's the first proper problem I've heard of on the Berg. My 09 570 has been faultless, in spite of the abuse it's copped. It's not a 2T, but it sure turns like one, and I like it almost as much as one . . . .and that wild, torquey power is just addictive !

you guys must bring in some serious coin to dump that much on a bike. 15k will almost buy a new truck over here. for sure a damn sweet used one.

funny thing about AF bikes is i dont think theyre recognised by any appraisal or fianacial lending institution. when you sell, what ever someone will give you for it is what its worth. if you walked in a bank asking for 15k loan on a s/h bike they would be on the floor laughing. far as im concearned my home made one is worth just as much as a s/h bike, but im into it a fraction of the cost.

You seem to forget we are in a different part of the world. Finance on a service honda no problem from the dealer. If u can build me a brand new bike for under 15k delivered to my door in australia send me your bank details and i will deposit monies into your account. No one in autralia can build me a brand new cr500afx for under 20k so the service honda to me is a bargain.

Mate for about 6k i made a Gen III 500. Thats with paying too much for the rolling chassis from MPS in the states (should have just done it myself but didnt have the time). Buy a 500, sell the frame (i got over 2K just for the rolling frame) then keep an eye out for a crfx450. If you really want one that bad it can be done. For 15k you would get everything you need + more. You just need time and effort. On the other hand I could build you one for 15k....... but it may take some time

same situation, i could build one for cheaper, but i wanted BRAND NEW, and service honda is the cheapest way for me to do that, thats why i did it

and the next bike of choice for me (ktm 300) is $11 000 out the door here, so i feel i got a good deal at $13 000 ish (after tax and shipping, ect)

and ya 500AFs kick ass, if you get one make sure it comes with a DGN needle and 45ish pilot, the stock jetting is terrible
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.
