I have a shorter loop that is fun, you eat lunch, and get gas at Salton Sea.
It's a 70 mile loop.

Truckhaven Torture:

53 mile challenging to difficult route of adventure through the Truckhaven hills. This route will include many sections of the 2002 Truckhaven Challenge and you will discover famous hidden landmarks like the Hydrant and the Phone Booth. Mexican lunch at the Alamo!
The route leaves camp and cuts across country through the Mud Hills and to Shell Reef. The ride continues through the mud hills to Pumpkin Patch then heads north and joins the North Fork of Arroyo Salada Wash. The wash runs parallel to HY S-22 and crosses the Highway near the Microwave Tower. The ride continues into the Truckhaven area on the Calcite Mine Road then drops down onto Palm Wash. From Palm Wash the ride merges on the 2002 Truckhaven Challenge Course. This Jeep Course winds through the Truckhaven hills into Grave Wash the route takes you up to the phone booth. This is the best view in the Truckhaven area. You must sign the book at the Phone Booth. From here the ride takes you off the mountain and down into Coral Wash through Squeeze Arch and onto Salton City. Lunch is at the Alamo. This is the best Mexican food in the whole place. After lunch the ride takes you to Arroyo Salada Wash onto the Cut Across Trail then to Tule Wash and onto a single track trail across the desert floor. From here the ride cuts over to camp. This is a Challenging 53 mile ride not for beginners. GPS route TruckTorch1 and TruckT

1. Its disorganized

2. Marginal weather is turning worse by the minute.

3. Erics engine sounds like it has rocks in it.

4. None of these bikes have proven themselves to be trail worthy yet.

5. We we go single track riding, most guys are spent after 25 miles. This ride is 12x as far. I think most are underestimating this ride, even more so consdering the bad weather coming on Wed.

6. No one wants to talk about it, only text that I'm a dooshbag to me and then wont take my calls.

7. Thursday / Friday would be a much better time to do it, or simply reschedule it.

8. A local ride would be much better in case any mechanical gremlins crop up.

9. The odds of the ride back Wed beings even remotely enjoyable are pretty low.

10. I'm one guy out of 20. You can still do the ride regardless of what I decide.

I'm riding the San Bernardino mountians tomorrow. There are enough trails open to make a trip out worth it.

Hopefuly we can get past this ride and regroup for the X-Planes ride in Jan. If not, fuck it, I'll do that one by myself too.

Had anyone called me back, I would have suggested still meeting in Barstow, doing the first half of the Mojave Trail, then turn around and come back a different way... If others still wanted to press on to Laughlin, go for it.

It would have been a good test for the bikes, Us , the GPS, and still get 150 miles under your belt in a days riding.

Oh well.....

I've been tracking since about 8:00.
It started at 5:00 am at Hammer's place in Carlsbad.
It records the previous 50 spots. So #1 moves up.

Yes it is very cool. I have one, maybe I should activate it. :?

Take another look.
They're going away. Maybe they're going to pick up the road.
Have you clicked on the terrain?
