What are the Differences
between Gen 3 and Gen 5 Frames?

I found this,
but it Lacks Detail,
as to the Differences between Gen 3 and Gen 5 Frames.

Specifically, What are the Differences?

In 2002,
Honda engineered out more stiffness
and changed the rake and trail
and called it a gen 3 frame. ( 2002 to 2007)

This is the best CR aluminum frame
but will not work with your engine without extensive modification

Honda halted development on the CRs in 2004.

the CR was essentially unchanged
(and sporting a gen 3 frame)
from 2002 to 2007 when the CR production ceased.

While the CRFs were getting better frames
(gen 4 in '05 and gen 5 in '08 )

Differences between Gen 3 and Gen 5 Frames.
Between the two, the gen 3 frame will be stiffer with larger
main spars. Have a rake of 26.5 degrees, trail of 4.3" and
a wheelbase of 58.3". The gen 5 has more flex due to
slimmed down main spars along with smaller and fewer
cross braces. The rake is 27 degrees and the trail is 4.5".
Wheelbase is 58.7" due to a longer swingarm. The engine
cradle on a gen 5 is 1" lower than a gen 4 to lower the
center of gravity. The gen 5 also runs a steering damper
and "stubby" rear shock reservoir.
