Heres some pics of my '97 that I restored 5+ years ago. (I still own it.)
It has become my AFC donor.
Heres my latest purchase, the 1995. I've taken this one down to the frame also. See my progress thread on the bottom of my posts.
The 1995 now looks like this (unfinished):

Had my wife do a little photo shoot yesterday. I've finally lost enough weight (100+ lbs.) to be human-sized and find riding gear in my size. (Other than boots and a helmet.) And I wanted to see what I looked like on the bike. One of my buddies said he can't imagine too many other people making a 500 look small, but there ya go. I know there's some other guys my size in here, so I feel I fit in nicely. BTW, thanks for the boots, Sabreguy, they fit perfectly!
Don't mind the grey chain guard, I'm guessing the black one got superseded at some point.

Thanks, Shane. Got really lucky on this one. $200 off CL and it was the guy's brother's bike that got left in the basement in boxes when he moved out. The poster said he got about ten calls in the first thirty minutes that the ad was posted, but I jumped on it first.
It was obviously very low hours, the bottoms of the frame tubes are perfect, the linkage and swingarm bearings are all nice and tight, good tires, not even one tiny rip in the seat, the damn footpegs aren't even worn out! I think the lower rod bearing went so the PO took the bike apart to fix it and lost interest. I got a new top end and a fleabay crank for it, then serviced the suspension and added some fat guy springs and replaced a shroud and side panel that were MIA and she's good to go!
