New Custom Suspension on my AF500...SAF......

Post by BIGWORM500 »

I just had Boykin in Modesto rebuild my suspension and it is awesome. I don't know why i rode so long with stock crap . The best investment you can make on your bike i highly recommend :D  :D

ANYONE here can swap springs... that alone is half the battle.

Folks are real eager to buy reed blocks, graphic kits, billet hubs, and all that other jazz...

The truth? Suspension and physical conditioning are the only two ways to be fast.

Great advise there, Worm...

My suspension was done by that dude in Florida that Bob likes so much. What's his name, RJacks I think, he is the MAN!

You know I really liked the stock '03 250 suspension on my AF. I had no intention of changing it until a friend of mine who runs a Race Tech satellite shop ruined the forks. I had MX-Tech go through each end and it works about like it did stock. Just softer through the first 1/3 of travel and firmer in the last 1/3. But I really could have lived with the original setup forever. I like my suspension a little firmer than most off road, and a little softer on a track.

Its not so much the welding, its the thought process that gets me. As long as were talking about Rhacks...

Here's portions of his latest update:

"Well a little about me. I was married for 7 years and have two great kids, one who races right along with me. I am since getting a divorce and now it's time to move on....

....I sure miss my 500AF, but I am a racer and need something that doesn't hold me back.... I now have a YZ450F and love it."

I'm sure his great personality had nothing to do with the divorce.

S/H is (was?) his main sponsor... I'm sure their happy about the knife in the back with that comment.

Dudes all class.

I was kind of down on the guy since he never got the forks on my '01 CR500 to work worth a crap (shock was great, though). But he worked over my new rig and it is right near perfect. Big new springs with stiffer valving, all for just over $500 (including unlimited clicker twists and sag support at all the local races).
