Here is my next project bike.. Now finished

Post by smokindodge »

I got done with my first Gen 1 bike about 2 1/2 months ago and had a guy come along who couldn't live without it. He gave me the 500 in the pic plus 1600 cashola for my AF. The AF needed a case half replaced too! That would have cost me a few hundred if I would have kept it. He was happy as hell with the deal and I smiled all the way to the bank. Anyways the new donor has a pretty nice FMF on it, check out the pic of the pipe, is this extra piece factory or is it a patch. I have never seen a pipe with it but it looks factory to me. Now I have got my eye out for another gen 1 chassis. I will let you know when I find the one! I had such a good time with the first build I want to do it again. Let me know what you think about the pipe. Thanks

As ISBB says, that is the factory gusset that you will only find on a Gnarly. it also happens to be the source for the enevitable cracking you will get.

Hmmm.... Interesting crack on the doubler.

Mine finally gave out two months ago. Started in front of the doubler, went down and tuned inside and ended half way down. Would have been an inch or two shorter but I wasn't done riding yet.

Here it is, I finally got a chance to finish it up. I love these Gen 1 bikes. I took it to the welder Friday afternoon, put it together Friday night. Rode it all day Saturday with no problems!!

Why the 18"? I have one sitting in my garage that I was going to find a bigger rotor for and put a paddle on. Is there a reason for the 18" or just looks?

That view is awesome. Like a picture from a plane or something. Crongrats on the bike and the home.

Thanks for the nice words guys! That place is actually my Dad's, I am but a wee lad yet, but I think I will be in the will for the house and land..ha ha :woot: There is some kick ass riding in the mountains you see in the pics. That's where I broke in the latest gen 1 last Saturday. Best part is you can ride right from the house!
