Greetings From Saskatchewan

Post by jfckelly »

Hi Guys

Been lurking on here for a month. What a wealth of information and some really nice conversions. Enough to make me want one anyways. My plan is to do a gen 1 with an 86 motor that I purchased the other day. So far I am really going about it backwards, I got the conversion kit from DannyGraves, then the motor, now I am looking for a gen 1 250.

Thanks for all the information.

About 140 miles From Moose Jaw, 120 miles from Minot North Dakota. Needless to say there is lots of snow here still. I have a restored 82 yz490 that I studded the tires on, its a blast.

Im living near Estevan, and Im in the middle of a Gen1 swap with an 85 motor, and I bought the kits from danny..........

Youre Freakin me out man!
Seriously!

Where are you from? Sounds like Estevan to me!
We just might have to hook up sometime for 500 roosting and beers.

Welcome!

Nodge, I am in Carlyle area. Any ideas on who to get to tig weld the mounts in. I am hoping to find someone in Oxbow area. Could't help but notice the Wildcatter flag in one of you pics, I used to work there a million years ago.

Cheers

Weird.
Im actually from Carlyle. Lived there for 15 years!
My mom lives just west of Arcola now on an acreage.
My step dad and mom both used to work for Williston Wild Catters.
Maybe you know them? Blair Maher? Sherry Nagy? or perhaps my dad? Willie Nagy?
Its a small world!

I know a good welder in Saskatoon, but that has been my only hold up with the build.
I dont know anybody in Estevan with a Tig, let alone one that I trust.
I just havent had a day off to take my frame up to Saskatoon.

Ive got all the parts here, just need to weld in the mounts and I could be on my way to riding it with a day or two worth of work on it.

HeHe, I went to school in Carlyle, a buddy of mine used to work service rigs with Willie, Blair took me flying in his piper cub years ago. I am going to get Mark, from Marks Marine in Carlyle to do my welding. I will let you know what kinda job he does. Hopefully I can get this done before I have to go back to Indonesia.
