Engine cases - 93 vs 94-01

Post by icediver »

Ok,I finally decided my right side engine case half is beyond repair. I dont know if I can even get the 93 case (111AO-ML3-680) new or not, plus the 94-01 case (11100-MAC-305) is cheaper than the 93. Is the only difference in the two the fact that the 93 is black? I don't give a rats ass what color it is. My left case is still serviceable so I only want to by the right side.

And yes, I strayed to the other side and posted my question to the hugs and kisses crew on the other board as well.

They are interchangeable as far as I know the only reason they are black is to match the clutch cover which is painted to protect the magnesium.

I finally said screw it and ordered both right and left cases for the 94-01. When all is said and done I should have a "new" engine other than the transmission, which looked pretty mint when I took it apart. Now I have to send Glen my jug for some work and a new piston.

cases are the same 89- 01 you can strip a set of cases of their paint perfectly in about a hour with a real good grade striper. and make them shine.

I got the stuff from Lowes. The brand is Klean strip (metal stipper) and it comes in a square can. It comes with a little plastic squirt bottle to aply it with. I would used the green scratch pads that are not metal. Steel wool will give you a brushed look if that is what your looking for.

Now the fun starts, get the buff wheels kit and start polishing. 100HP can fill you in on the details, he even claims it picked up a few pony's.
