Cr500 stutter high rev

Wondering if anyone can chime in,
97 cr500 was running perfectly and sat for about 12 months. Now has a misfire under load in the higher rpm range. Down low runs clean and pulls hard. Cleaned carb and jets, cleaned ground points on frame, disconnected kill switch , new plug and none sorted it. Guessing cdi not advancing or stator problem but has anyone come across this issue under load in higher rpm and what was your fix?
