OK so I'm building a 500AF.
Decided to run the 1999 CR250 ignition system, but....I have no spark.
I have tested everything and all within ohm spec. I have done a peak voltage test with a DVA adapter and I get 47V from the exciter coil. I get nothing, well millivolts going to the primary coil wire.
I now have 3 stators, all test the same, 1 is brand new.
2 CDI boxes
2 ignition coils 1 is brand new OEM cr500 coil
2 Flywheels.
How on earth can I not be getting a spark. The cr250 manual says I should get 100v min from the exciter coil. Well that's Gotta be crap, tested my mates perfectly running 97 cr250 and got the same readings, only when running did we get 240+v from the exciter coil.
Anybody got any sensible ideas, I can't seem to test the CDI boxes, I would have liked to think at least 1 would be good.
All earths are ok, kill switch is new and tested both connected and dis connected.
The lack of volts to the coil would suggest cdi but they are hard to find and I have 2 already.
Can anybody help I'm at wits end with it, just want it running.
Argh! Help anybody, cr250-500 ignition help....please.

I have a '99 system that only backfires
the stator you have is '99 also? I know that any other year has different grounds

92-96 CR250 ignition is the easiest IMO.R1yamdude wrote:Yeah 99 all round.
Running KZ3S stator, cdi and flywheel.
Re wired the whole thing yesterday and still nothing.
Think I'm gonna go oem 500 system to save the messing about.
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...
