91 500 engine to 02 crf450r chassis

Post by Wiley13 »

I have been drooling over a 500 af conversion for a long time and finally found the right deal on a blown 02 450 and a 91 500 engine. Im finding very little info on the 02-04 frame. Has anyone done this swap or know where i can find info/parts? I tried cp500 with little results.

Thanks

I did it. The reason you can't find much is that the rectangular frame prevents you from buying one of those sweet billet y's. I got such a screaming deal on a roller I couldn't help myself. I was a machinist and had a buddy CNC a Y. Check out my build.

What air box boot did you use for your conversion?

pretty sure it is from a 1998 CR250. It is rubbing a little bit on the frame in the upper part I tried to heat it with a heat gun to "push it ". Not perfect but it dis the job.
