I've been using soda and was about to order a cabinet soda blaster from ABS, but you've got me reconsidering that.

I'm actually dead set on a dry ice blaster too, I'd like one in a dedicated trailer so I could do contract work too.

A customer claims to have a line on a bunch of sonic cleaners from the local university, could be the ticket.

WELL.... I bought a used one....
It was completely rebuilt by the company I bought it from.
I'll get a link to the company later.
In the mean time here is a link to my sad story...
http://www.oem-cycle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=815
So to answer your question, I paid 4900.00 for a used one and a additional 1600 for a two month old 3000 dollar compressor.
DO NOT skimp on your compressor.
If at some point I decide to get a bigger machine I will have to go bigger on my compressor or do a two compressor set up.
I would have bought a bigger compressor but I'm limited to 220 single phase.
I had a buddy bring over a rifle barrel today that had been in a house fire... Whoa...it cleaned up nice... hope it don't rust...
Another buddy that has a salvage company brought over a head and cylinder for his 1000 air cooled monstrosity... I'll be getting pics of what we did ay some point. SWEET! comes to mind when I think about it...
So it's not cheap but a new one is over 10k and you still have to get a decent compressor..

I have a proposal for any member...
Take a look at this head
I want to experiment with a protective chemical called Sharkhide.
You can read more about it here:
http://www.oem-cycle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=249
Faq's from the manufacture is here:
http://www.sharkhide.com/mpfaq.html
I want to vapor blast a head then coat it with Sharkhide and see how well it holds up on a bike with high heat.
If it does as I suspect, it should help maintain that bright finish for at least a few years.
Sharkhide is easily removed so that is not a problem.
If the coating does not hold up very well, we can remove the coating and vapor blast the head again.
So, if anyone is getting ready to build their engine, send me your head and I will do the work and send it back at my expense.
It will take a few days to get it done as I want to be sure the tank is clean before I start and I want drying time for the Sharkhide.
I can tell you that if you get gas or any petroleum product on a Sharkhide finished part, the sharkhide will come off.
So, lets go...
