CR250 IGNITION SWAP

Post by JEFFBUM83 »

I have a 93 cr500 that i eventually plan to stick in the 2002 chassis in my garage....in the mean time, my cdi took a crap and i would like to use the 250 ignition if I can. I've read thru the sticky about swapping over and doing the stator mod, but unless I'm reading it wrong, that's a 99 model cr250. Can the newer ignition that I have be modified in the same way? :?:

Gen 2 (2000-2001) CR250 ignitions make for the cleanest swap with the least amount of modifications needed to the existing wiring harness.

slot the stator plate, align it for the trigger, run it.

Honestly the best swap is to use a CR125 stator and the flywheel from the 250. The grooves from the 125 fit perfectly without modification.
