Have read all the posts/stickies on here and there, just want to clarify:
CR 250 CDIs went digital in '00 and while '00 and '01 have ideal maps, post '01 CDIs also work fine, right? One can just silicon the unused electronic power valve control servo plug?
And the ignition coil can be original CR5 or CR250 or even CR125, correct?
I think that Gen 1 CR250's were the first digital ignitions.
Personally prefer the Gen 2 CR250's ignitions i.e 2000 & 2001 due to the fact you don't have to deal with all the extra crap the Gen 1's and Gen 3's in terms of wiring.
From what I recall Gen 3 ignition work but require a little more modification due to the pick up location of the flywheel
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.

2strokeforever - my 99 works great, the cdi box is massivetho
yes you can use the 02 also with electronic power valve....just need to
slot the adjusting for more advance and use the cr250 fly wheel also
there is also enough amps coming out that ignition to run decent led
