The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

I think it's cool, I think it's bad ass that it's being done on a Cr500. I know I will never run it, unless some sort of smog cop makes me.

I like carbs, I can always get a carb back home when I'm 30 miles from my house with minimal tools and by myself. I have carbs on everything that I run deep into the forest or desert.

All that said I wish Big Red luck in his endeavors and see the allure of fuel injection for many. Good luck Big Red and pretty cool you got it all to work and it looks like it works pretty well.

I would run EFI on a mountain-bike. Automatic elevation change adjustments would be really convenient. For all others.....

Yeah I hear that, I leave my house at just under 5000ft and the first climb out takes you just shy of 9000. At 5000 she runs great at 9 she is blubbery but still runs, you just have to find sections to open it up and clean it out. As long as it stays running I am happy......from the top of the first hill back home is like 6 miles. I had to walk it in a snow storm and it sucked.

EFI

Its amazing the response Red has recieved about his EFI, some have disputed the endevor others have wished him well.
I think he has done a number of things to prove the exsistance and running of the unit. His unwillness to provide details is bought about by securing monatary return for his family and himself, is that so wrong.
You may ask yourself why he would come here to post his results and findings. Its because he shares a passion and love for a bike, a CR500, and where do you think he might find the greatest appreciation.
Its 2012 and a motor we all know well has got the biggest up grade it could possibly have. It is user freindly and the applications are alot broader. Just amagine riding trails and then going hillclimbing on the same motor. Putting aside claims of 70hp on a standard motor, what mods would it take to bring a motor up to that spec. If you don't beleive that 70 hp is capable now you have to admit it is well withinn its boundaries with EFI.

He DIDNT come here and post anything about it. and as soon as the first kit is sold, the secret is "out". If someone wants to steal it, they will. Or, he will sit on it forever, and it will never see the light of day

Wasn't a big part of the secret how the power to run it was getting made?

Having a good running EFI scoot is cool, having it in a mag is waaaaay cool. Being cool is another story.......

Not all secrets are shared around here.

Plenty of info on EFI out there though.

I think the efi conversion has the most potential on a supermoto or street legal 500.

The only hurdle I see for ANY efi setup is output power of the lighting coil. As soon as someone starts making the eline kits (or something similar) that gives us 200 watts they'll be a new topic called "EFI Conversions" just like everyone doing the custom A/F thing. That's all I need to start experimenting.
