Success Story - CR250 Ignition

Post by CR500PHIL »

I always loved the way the 250s reved and loved the torque of the 500s. I built an AF with a 1989 engine that had lots of power but I missed the 250 style powerband. This time I built a 1996 CR500 steelie with a 1985 engine with 1996 OEM reed cage, standard 38 mm carb and a 1993 complete CR 250 ignition and wow. I got the say this engine is everything I ever wanted in a bike. It has great jetting, idles perfectly, starts easy and man the power. The CR 250 ignition makes the bike feel like a 250 but with way more - everywhere. I love the 250 ignition mod - the best thing I have ever done to the bike. I just want to ride this thing all the time. The "no top end" of the short rod is gone - it feels like a new YZ250 on major steroids - or perhaps LSD. If any of you are wondering about the 250 ignition mod - stop, do the mod and smile.

Amen!

First ride on my 250 ignition today... So far I'd say it's awesome, I'm going to write a review on my 03 ignition thread
