Crank tolerances

Post by AMA714 »

Roosty or someone that has good info handy...

I have scoured the files here and cant seem to find the service limits on the big end. What is the side to side tolerance. I was just going through a new to me 90 CR 500 and want to check the crank.

Thanks

.016"-.031" and toast is .04"
theres a pdf manual floating around online, its handy
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.

so when you get a new one at .050 what do ya do?? I do not have any up and down/front to back movement, but it does have a touch of side to side. Wasnt sure what the thrust washer/rod clearance was from new...

Next time you're over I'll show you the original crank out of my 87'. Sloppy as hell, cylinder shaped like a stop sign and it still pulled a HOH modded 450 up the big hill. If you can't find the service manual on here, bring a thumb drive with you next time and I'll give it to you. You need it regardless.
