Largest front sprocket?

Post by skinart »

Anyone know what the largest front sprocket I can run without removing the little chain guard?

It has 14 / 49 at the moment, and I'm non stop shifting gears ... I'm sure this is great for tight riding but I normally ride in forests where the roads and tracks are more open and higher speeds ...

So I'm either thinking say a 15t on the front if it will fit ... Or change the rear to say a 44 or 45 ish?

What do you guys think?

If you go with the 15 tooth, it fits better with a standard ( non o-ring) chain.

Even then, you might need a spacer under the sprocket.

Its a tight fit.

I have ran 15-47, modified the inside radius on the front chain guide plate but it pulls the motor down pretty good in sand and you will find yourself stretching 4th to pull 5th hard with the 93+ trans.
I prefer 14-47, its still good for ~97 mph, and will rip instantly without bogging down

15/48 is highest I've run and I needed to remove the case saver, but I was running an O-ring chain...
