KYB or showa gen 3

Post by JR650 »

Had a bad weekend, crashed a couple times, trashed a fork in a headon collision with a tard going the wrong way down the trail. So, plan is im gonna buy a new set of forks, Should i run the 125 KYBs or the 250 and everything else Showas?? they will be sprung accordingly, just wondering everyones opinion. Ive been runnning a KYB rear shock for quite a while on my gen3 250 framed bike but kept the showa forks. Any input is appreciated, JR

Showa>KYB IMO.
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

Aside from some fork seal issues, my KYB's are every bit as nice as my Showa's but both are FAR from stock...

Whichever one you can get in the nicest shape and best price is what I would go with...

PM sent, I am in Calgary and have stock 2000 CR500 front end, as well as 2004 CRF250 Showa front end for you. Both have the tripple clamps.
I also have many more 500 chasis parts and radiators if needed.
No motors though. I also have 2004 CRF250 showa shock available

the 125 KYBs are single chamber, the 250 showas are twin chamber ;)

Is this true for the shock, or forks only?

No such thing as a twin chamber shock...only forks.
